Slendertone Womens System Abs Toning Belt

Whether you’re a casual exerciser, a senior, a fitness enthusiast, or someone facing physical challenges, the Slendertone System Abs Toning Belt for Women can help you build a stronger core foundation. Simply follow the 30-day toning plan for 30 minutes, five times a week to develop your abdominal strength and a firmer, tighter stomach. Discreet, comfortable and easy to use, the Slendertone System slimline belt enables you to build power abs anytime–at home, while working at the office, out the garden, etc.
The rechargeable, handheld System Controller plugs into the toning belt and displays information on toning programs, time and intensity all in the palm of your hand. It features seven toning programs, up to 99 intensity levels, and warm-up and cool-down phases. It’s backed by a two-year warranty.
Slendertone uses clinically proven, patent-pending C.S.I. (Concentrated Slendertone Innervation) technology to firm, tone and strengthen your entire midsection with patented medical-grade muscle stimulation technology. Signals from the belt reach out to nerves where they are most concentrated. These nerves branch out to reach all the abdominal muscles (not just those under the pads) causing them to relax and contract naturally, exercising all the muscles at the same time.
Used regularly (as little as 30 minutes a day) in conjunction with a healthy diet and some moderate exercise, you will notice results within four weeks. You can wear the Slendertone System belt when you just don’t have time in your hectic schedule to hit the gym or go for a run, or wear it during your workout for added emphasis.

4 Stars Slendertone
Well so far I think it will meet my needs to strengthen my abdominal muscles, but it is too soon to tell. I am using it as instructed.
4 Stars Excellent product! I love it!
First of all, I am a man, but since my waist is one size too small, I had to buy a women’s size belt. I’ve had this product for about a month now. I had a flat abs before, but the definition was too shy to show. Now my friends said that the definitions are showing. I’d wear it when I walk/jog on the treadmill, lift weights, drive to/from work, average about an hour and a half each day. A friend of mine is going to buy a set. One thing you have to keep in mind though: I am fit, work out 4 times a week, have a carefully planned and balanced diet. I just wanted my abs to show the six-pack that I have worked so hard for.

Strength Training Past 50
May 30, 2009 by Weight Training · Leave a Comment

Strength training is an equal-opportunity exercise system; studies show that anyone who tries it can benefit. Muscle loss is inevitable through the years if you’re sedentary. But no matter how old you are when you start, strength training has nearly immediate benefits: more muscle mass, more strength, less fat. This book gives older exercisers all the information they need to get started, including advice on testing for strength and how to pick a qualified personal trainer.
User Ratings and Reviews
4 Stars Helpful to the elder exerciser.
A great method of education for those who are older, but want to be wiser about their fitness. Know your machines and “what” they work. Know your body parts and “how” they work. Wisdom saves time. Be wise, learn, then burn (calories).
5 Stars Great response
The response was immediate and the item was in the condition as advertised. I would purchase from the source again.
1 Star title a little deceiving. Typical Westcott.
I was looking for a book with information on training older adults. This book isn’t about that… It is a book on general weight training with general programs and general guidelines. It’s a typical Westcott book with a few pages of general guidelines and principles and a few program examples. The majority of the book is pictures of exercises which are absolutely useless if you own any other book on weight training and have a basic understanding of resistance training. If you know anything about weight training and exercise, don’t buy this book.
4 Stars Review of gift
I sent this book to a lady as a gift. She has not commented one way or another on it. I have to suppose that it got thrown on a book shelf and probably won’t be read. LOL
1 Star not as expected
This book is not for someone who has no access to machines. A lot of the book is devoted to the use of gym equipment. I was hoping for more instruction when there are no machines..or trainers….a basic book for beginners. This is not that book.
Valeo Padded Lifting Straps

Neoprene padded cotton. Comfortable neoprene padding. 100% Heavy duty cotton straps. Extra length and width for improved gripping. Machine washable. Made in Pakistan.
User Ratings and Reviews
4 Stars Decent…
Going on 2 yrs. with a set of these, they are just starting to fray a bit. They are fine for moderate lifting but as suggested by another reviewer, non-cotton would be more suitable for advanced lifts. In my experience the cotton holds moisture so can get pretty stinky if not washed weekly
Overall, they have served their purpose, just don’t expect them to hold up to 400+ lb deadlifts, not made for that.
5 Stars a solid product
These things are very solid, and I’ve noticed a large difference in what I’ve been able to deadlift with their help. I added 70 lbs to my max, just from the difference between my grip vs overall strength.
The padding is good, the fit is comfortable, and they do their job. I can’t ask for more.
5 Stars GREAT ITEM!
Item just as described! Shipped super quick. HOpe to do business with you again! Thank you! Happy New Year
2 Stars Good only for a beginner
These straps are cotton so they stretch during a heavy lift and transfer a lot of the weight back to your hands. It’s difficult to get a good grip on heavy weight because of this. Also, the pad is too long so the strap can’t be properly tightened around the bar because the loop hits on the pad. I would suggest non-cotton straps with a better pad design (e.g. the Harbinger nylon straps) for advanced lifting.
4 Stars average straps
I would say average at best. But low cost so what would you expect. Worth what I paid.

5 Stars Excellent DVD
this became my favorite workout DVD the first time out of the box! You can really feel results so it makes you want to find the time to use it.
5 Stars An excellent addition to DVD workout libraries
The “Weight Loss” series of user-friendly fitness DVDs debuts. “Weight Loss Cardio Sculpt with Violet Zaki” includes both cardio and strength training in a vigorous routine meant to fire up one’s metabolism. Since successful weight loss also depends on improving the quality of one’s diet, this DVDs has bonus advice and recipes from the magazine “Cooking Light”. There is also a brief bonus segment focusing on abdominal muscles. An excellent addition to DVD workout libraries.
4 Stars good workout
I’ve never seen this lady before, but decided it was time I get out of my comfort zone. I really like these workouts. I prefer the first one over the second one, though. They run about 34 minutes each and are perfect for me to do before work.
3 Stars disappointed
After reading all the great reviews. I was expecting a challenging good hard workout. But after completing the first workout I didn’t even break a sweat. So I decided to do the other workout too. It was better then the first. This a a good workout for beginners or if you want a light workout. Not for the intermediate or advance exerciser.
4 Stars Workout Video
Great all over body workout. Easy to keep up with. Would definitely recommend.
Dumbbell Training for Strength And Fitness

Dumbbell Training for Strength And Fitness

This is not your conventional how-to book. With an emphasis on safety, it thoroughly covers all aspects of proper strength training while simultaneously debunking certain myths and misconceptions such as explosive training and sport-specific training. The book shows how to perform nearly 50 exercises with dumbbells in a safe and effective manner. Unique to this type of book is the inclusion of more than three dozen dumbbell workouts that have been submitted by approximately 24 strength and fitness professionals from across the USA.

3 Stars OK
I found this book on dumbbell exercises to be fine. However, I much prefer the Men’s Health Ultimate Guide to Dumbbells.
5 Stars Great for beginners
This book was a great way for me, as a complete beginner, to learn my way around all the basic exercises for all the major muscle groups.
It is great for a beginner because:
1) It requires no previous knowledge.
2) It requires no fancy equipment (a basic dumbbell bench would be nice, but isn’t necessary).
3) It emphasizes safety and proper technique.
4) Between this book and some cheap hex dumbbells dumbbells I spent about $50.
I got appreciable results in just a few weeks by working out in my living room (I’m not going to be a model anytime soon, but I’m stronger and more fit than I was before).
If you already use dumbbells in your routine, then you probably don’t need this book. I’m sure after I get some experience under my belt, a dumbbell bench, and a wider array of dumbbells, I’ll want a more comprehensive book, but for the price, this was a great investment.
5 Stars No Time for Gym? - Great Home Work-Out Using DumbBells!
I prefer free-weights, and I was looking for an effective method to stay in shape without having to build a bulky gym in my home. The authors technique is right on the mark! This book shows 50 exercises with dumbbells, which are assembled in three dozen dumbbell workouts.
The book was exactly what I was looking for - simple and straightforward. I was not looking to study the subject - simply wanted pre-developed workout routines (with pictures) from professionals - that involved all areas of my body.
I had great immediate results, and within 30 days experienced improvements in size of arms, chest size, and a more pronounced shoulder structure.
This book and a few dumbbells - give you the ability to work out during idle times such as watching TV.
5 Stars Dumbell Encyclopedia
The author is a Marine and earned his degree from Penn State. He has written over 350 articles and numerous books on fitness and strength training. One of his works is a book upon which my strength training program is built upon, Maximize Your Training, which is one of the most important books in bodybuilding in my professional and personal opinion.
Maximize Your Training
When I saw that he authored a book about dumbbell training, I knew his style and knowledge would truly give the most comprehensive information available. Starting out with the history of dumbbells, the advantages and disadvantages of this method of training, and the extensive training details related to technique and safety, this book is the definitive text on incorporating this fitness equipment into your lifestyle.
A section broken down by body parts emphasized with black and white photographs, techniques and technical/physical limiting considerations are covered.
There are numerous exercise routines that are outlined depending upon whether you work out 1 to 3 days a week. He covers exercise myths regarding sports specific training and other myths of core training with exercise balls and balance boards.
His key theme is effective workouts with an emphasis on safety.
I highly recommend this book.

4 Stars Good product
I would recommend this product to anyone who is training clients and wants a more economic medicine ball. Or to anyone who does not care if the med ball they use looks “cool” or trendy. These look good and have a good feel and work well for the price.
I like that there are no little bumpy gripers on the ball. I have worked with other balls that have friction for grip. These tend to hurt the hands when you catch them.
I am taking these outdoors for bootcamp and they will be getting dirty. I intend for them to hold up but this is the first time buying these. I will review back if they do not hold up to the outdoor environment.
5 Stars As Good As it Gets!
This is my third purchase of a Medicine Ball. They are identical to the ones at our gym. However the gym does not provide as great a variety, nor the instructions that come with these. They are my favorite core work out tool-as good as it getsValeo MB6 6 lb. Medicine Ball
5 Stars pretty and sturdy!
Got this ball and two others of higher weight to augment the ‘toys’ I have for exercise.
Had to get the ones that were striped and colorful and am glad I did.
They are sturdy and have held up well so far so would rate them highly.
5 Stars Workout
I bought this to add to my workout routine and I love it. The instructions that come with it are a good way to start using the ball and it the ball is like a basketball, so it is easy to hold on to
4 Stars Great Exercise Ball
It’s perfect for your entire waistline. My only suggestion would be is to start with a 2 or 4lb. one first, if you don’t have a strong torso/abs.

5 Stars Fabulous Work-out
This is an absolutely fabulous work-out. Kelsie Daniels is a real pro. Her exercise combinations are well thought out. She stresses proper form to prevent muscle strain/ injury. If you’re not a beginner and you’re looking for a GREAT exercise DVD, this is the one for you.
5 Stars Wow, What a workout
Let me start out by saying I may be a bit bias. But, I just love the Firm workout video’s. This was was no exception. Kelsie works your whole entire body over. I’m still feeling the “BURN” and that was just a few days ago.
1 Star If you’re not into Step Class, avoid this DVD!
I don’t know anything about the Firm, and when I read reviews of this video before I bought it, I saw nothing to indicate that this video was a step routine that assumes you’ve been in step class your entire life. Maybe it does burn 500(+) calories, but if you can’t get the routine down, you won’t be burning that much. I tried a few times, but she changes moves SO fast and if you’re like me and not very coordinated (and step routines give you trouble) I would avoid this video. I have been doing a Jillian Michaels video, and I find it challenging- and it doesn’t require such ridiculous coordination. Apologies to everyone who loves this video… I wish I could be that coordinated!
5 Stars “The Firm INDEED!”
I purchased this video to change up my strength training routine, and it really paid off. It is challenging but rewarding. I use it in between my running days. It provides a mixture of cardio and strength moves. I have really enjoyed working out to this video.
1 Star too fast!! catered to fitness experts rather than normal people just trying to lose weight!!
this workout may burn 500 calories, but i couldnt get through the first minute of it. they claim that this workout is ok for beginners, even those new to exercise, and to watch one of the girls for beginner modifications. hah! the camera doesnt even pan to her or anyone long enough to figure out what’s going on. and that’s not the worst of it. Kelsie assumes we already know all these moves, she goes way too fast, not telling you to change a move until she’s already doing this new move!!! plus she switches moves every beat. these moves/steps are nothing new. They’re straight from any Kathy Smith video or Slim in 6, which give you the same intensity of workout while demonstrating the moves at pace that is meant for a person trying to lose weight not an exercise professional or personal trainer. RIDICULOUS!!!

Power to the People Russian Strength Training Secrets for Every American

He razes the sacred temples of fitness complacency and smugness with his revolutionary concepts and ideas. If you want a new and innovative approach to the age old dilemma of physical transformation, you’ve struck the mother-lode.” — Marty Gallagher, World Masters Powerlifting champion and Parrillo Performance Press
“Pavel and his book are the best imports from Russia since Siberian Ginseng! A fountain of information… an elixir for the body.” ” — Fairfax Hackley, Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Martial Arts Seminar Director
“Whether you’re young or old, a beginner or an elite athlete, training in your room or in the most high tech facility, if there was only one book I could recommend to help you reach your ultimate physical potential, this would be it. Simple, concise and truly reader friendly, this amazing book contains it alleverything you need to knowwhat exercises (only two!), how to do them (unique detailed information you’ll find nowhere else), and why. Follow its advice and, believe it or not, you’ll be stronger and more injury-resistant immediately. I guarantee it. I only wish I’d had a book like this when I first began training. 4 Stars An objective review from a critical, but practical, man.
I have owned this book since 2001, and the principles outlined have been a regular staple in my training. This is not to say that I have done the exercises in this book at the exclusion of all else for the last 8 years. But rather, I have regularly included cycles in my yearly exercise routine that focus on the concise, abbreviated, and basic exercises cited in this work.
There are some negative reviews on this product in which the reviewer(s) make the complaint that there is very little scientific research which is sourced. I would counter this complaint by saying that such a claim is not relevant for the scope of this book. This book seems to be designed to lay out a basic ’strength only’ routine, and is not designed for competitive weightlifters, powerlifters, or strongmen… unless they use the routine on what would for them be a ‘lighter cycle’ or a ‘back-off period’.
Instead, the book seems designed for non athletes, or people who enjoy keeping fit and strong in a way functional to their everyday lives and health… and appearance. This is the category I fall into, and because of that, I read the info in this book, test it, and use it if it works. I have not the time, nor the inclination to launch an in depth study of various training modalities and their respective sources, so that I can smartly post a review on Amazon.
There is also a series of complaints claiming the lifts are dangerous, and the workload unbalanced. Again, I would assert that this is false. Any exercise in existence is dangerous when done incorrectly and under significant load. So long as the exercises in this book are approached with reasonable technique and loaded within your lifting means, there is no danger. I have to underline that I’ve periodically repeated use of this program over the last 8 years, and it has been wonderful every time.
A program like this one is perfect during periods when your time is short, i.e., lots of overtime at work, some large scale home project, etc. You can do the work in 20 minutes, and then get on with life. Volume can be added when your schedule returns to normal. I feel it is a solid, highly versatile and customizable routine, and I’m sure it will remain a staple in my exercise routine.
The reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the hype and ad copy on the book itself. In particular, there is a claim on the back cover about being ripped and so forth. This book is not a book with any focus on adipose loss, and losing bulk will certainly require another method be included in your training. This is a strength regimen. And while increases in muscular mass or density should burn more calories, please do not expect to look like one of the cast of the movie “300″ by using this program alone.
5 Stars Great Book for the Devoted Weightlifter
Power to the People is a great book for a devoted weightlifter. This is why I gave it five stars. It is probably not the best book for the begginer.
One of the things I loved about this book is that it goes into specific detail about the form of the lift and why it is important to do so. This is very important to prevent injury and to maximize strength gains.
About six years ago when I was lifting weights (now I practice meditation, chanting, Soul Dancing, etc.), I gained more strength more quickly following Pavel’s techniques in this book. I easily increased 100 pounds on my deadlifts and squats in repetitions (not max).
I recommend this book for the devoted weightlifter. I also suggest making photocopies of the lifts and bringing them to the gym. This will help you implement every part of the lift, which will assist in your safety and gains. After you learn it, there is no need to continue to revisit before each lift. This is what I did.
Note: I have been meaning to write a review on this book for years. Now, it is done.
1 Star not worth your time
this book presents itself as an introduction to weight training, but the techniques in it would probably only be of value to people who have been lifting for several years, and only for the purpose of adding diversity to their routines. if you are just starting out lifting, pick up a copy of Mark Rippetoe’s Starting Strength and skip this book.
I followed the techniques described in this book for a little less than a year. I gained some mass and ended up with stronger abs, legs, grip and lower back, and vastly increased willpower. I also wasted a huge amount of time that could have been spent following more productive methods.
as a final note, on pavel’s forums they state that one of the most common questions they get is how to implement a hypertrophy program called the “bear routine” described in this book. I imagine they get so many questions about it because it is such a bad program. doing 5-10 sets of 150-200 pound deadlifts five days a week, especially as a novice trainee, is a guaranteed recipe for overtraining.
5 Stars Simply Excellent
This is a great book. It provides very good insights into strength physiology and gives practical advice on how to build strength safely. I also have “Relax into Stretch” and “The Naked Warrior”. These too are quite good (although I can’t do the Naked Warrior excersizes yet) Once you understand the concepts of training the nervous system; muscle synergy, neuromuscular coordination, and how these work together to generate muscle tension and/or relaxation it opens up a whole new world for you.
4 Stars good principles
I dont lift barbells, tried it years ago; and at 57 I probably wont be lifting them anytime soon. I do swing kettlebells, these are getting me in much better shape. But Pavel’s book about using heavy weights applies to kettlebells as well. Weightlifting is weightlifting, and his advice is applicable for any kind of resistance training. Deliberatly using very heavy weights really does work. Be careful when you first do resistance training this way…but his principles do work.
PowerBlock Personal Adjustable 5 to 45 Pounds per Dumbbell Set

PowerBlock Personal Adjustable 5 to 45 Pounds per Dumbbell Set

The only dumbbell system that can expand to meet your strength needs, PowerBlock dumbbells are the most versatile and effective exercise tool ever developed for strength training. PowerBlocks work intuitively. Rather than requiring you to buy a room full of dumbbells, PowerBlocks act just like a weight stack at the gym, with a weight handle that fits inside the first weight, which fits inside the second, which fits inside the third, etc. When you want to change weights, you simply move the weight selector pin into the appropriate slot and you’re set. As you lift the core, all the weights above the selector pin are lifted at the same time, turning your 3-pound dumbbell into a 6-pound dumbbell, or your 6-pound dumbbell into a 12-pound dumbbell. Not only is the system remarkably easy to use, but it’s also cost- and space-efficient, as a single pair of dumbbells can do the work of dozens.
This pair of 45×5 dumbbells, for instance, adjusts from 5 to 45 pounds in 5-pound increments (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 pounds), in effect doing the job of 18 individual weights. Even better, the weights are more compact and balanced than traditional dumbbells, with a padded handle that protects people with weak wrists. Best of all, the free weights are terrific whether you’re trying to build muscle mass, firm and tone your physique, or get rid of unwanted body fat. The adjustable set offers a maximum weight of 45 pounds per hand and carries a limited 10-year warranty.

5 Stars Excellent Dumbbells!
These dumbbells are excellent! I used the Bowflex SelectTech adjustable dumbbells and found that they are very bulky (which may limit some exercises) and rattle in your hands. The Bowflex dumbbells also need to be lined up just right when setting them down on the stand, which can be a minor nuisance. The PowerBlocks adjust easier and quicker than their Bowflex counterparts. Quality adjustable dumbbells like these may look expensive at first, but they are built very well and will last many many years. I use these for my P90X workouts, and in a typical hour workout, I save myself at least 10 minutes using these dumbbells over my old custom-weight dumbbells with a fraction of the footprint. You won’t be disappointed with PowerBlocks!
5 Stars Awesome alternative to individual dumbbells
I’ve had these Powerblocks for five years. I use them just about everyday. Combined with a good quality bench there is not much you can not do with these. They are a staple in any exercise equipment arsenal. They save a tremendous amount of space and clutter compared to individual dumbbells. They are very reliable, but you do need to move the retaining pin with care and not in haste, as if you get it engaged across multiple sections it could be a dangerous situation when you lift them up (this has happened to me a few times but is really not a huge issue). Once engaged with the desired weight, they stay together nicely and they feel solid and don’t rattle. I like to do tricep extensions while standing, and in the gym I can pick up a single traditional dumbbell and hold it by its end with both hands and lower it behind my head and then do the extensions. That is the only exercise that is somewhat difficult to do with the Powerblocks, due to the limited space to grasp the weight end of the Powerblock. But that is a minor nit. They are indestructible, and with the exception of a few scratches on the sides, look and operate like the day that I bought them. As stated earlier, I used these almost daily, so they have served me very well. In my new house, we have an actual gym with rubber floor and lots of space but I see no reason to not continue to use these Powerblocks due to their compactness and ease of use. I find the soft grip to very comfortable and I also like the way they feel in my hands and the way they provide lateral support since the Powerblock slightly rests on your wrist area when lifting them. Slight downside is that I have maxed them out, as most probably will if you strength train regularly, so I find myself wanting more weight. Highly recommend this product.
5 Stars A must have
If you are looking to get adjustable dumbbells, these are the ones to buy. They are solid and will last a long, long time. I would buy these over the bowflex or any other adjustable dumbbells. I have the set that goes up to 90lbs. and they are great and only take up a little space. I would recommend going to a place that sells these and take a look before your buy. I was looking to have a store close by that sells these and I was skeptical at first but when I played around with these dumbbells, I found out just how “solid” these things are. You can get a total body workout with just these and a good weight bench. Some things you just need to try out before you purchase and I tried these out and was very impressed. Great design and great product. It was funny because after I went to the fitness store to look at these, I went to the local bookstore and was skimming through the latest Sports Illustrated magazine and there was an article about Lance Armstrong’s comeback and several photos of him working out. One of the photos shows Lance using these PowerBlock dumbbells. After that I was sold! It must of been a sign. Ha! Well good luck and I think you will really like these and may be the last dumbbells you ever buy. Good luck!
5 Stars Great product for getting into shape, perfect for P90X
I started the P90X workout a few weeks ago and began using the rubber resistance bands. However, when I switched to this set of weights the workout became much more challenging. I highly recommend these over the bands if possible. Changing weights is a snap so you can easily keep up with the video. The product feels solid and high quality. Yes, there is a price premium for the Powerblocks but they are much quicker than changing plate weights and they take up much less room than a set of dumbbells. Highly recommended.
No offense to Amazon, but due to shipping costs, try to buy them locally if you can. I paid $269 + tax for the Sport 5.0 set which covers 5-50 pounds in 5 pound increments. Unless you are a bodybuilder, this weight will cover all the exercises in P90X. And the Sport series can be upgraded to 65 pounds if you really must have it.
5 Stars Best Dumbbells I have ever owned
These are great i bought the 5 to 45 pound set and recently have sold those and bought the 5 to 90. I might suggest getting a set you can add onto it will save you money in the long run. I have also in the past owned the Boxflex dumbbells those went to 52 pounds I did not like how long they were. The only problem I have had with the powerblock dumbbells is doing wrist curls the 2 bars on the top prevent some movement there. Otherwise these are great and not too outrageous on pricing.
